Eu adoro Londres. Entre as várias coisas que adoro em Londres estão as muitas lojas que a cidade disponibiliza para os “amantes” do “feito à mão”, cada uma mais irresistível que a outra. Mas se tivesse que escolher três…escolhia estas.
Eu adoro Londres. Entre as várias coisas que adoro em Londres estão as muitas lojas que a cidade disponibiliza para os “amantes” do “feito à mão”, cada uma mais irresistível que a outra. Mas se tivesse que escolher três…escolhia estas.
A Loop é talvez uma das minhas lojas predilectas em Londres. Visitei-a pela primeira vez o ano passado e adorei. A loja é linda, cheia de charme e tem uma enorme variedade de fios, agulhas e livros dedicados não só ao tricot, como também ao croché. Fica num sítio muito giro, Camdem Passage, um bairro onde o vintage e o trendy se misturam de forma absolutamente inspiradora.
#2 I Knit
A sul da Estação de Comboios de Waterloo fica uma rua que parece ter sido retirada a Notting Hill. Foi lá que fui encontrar a I Knit, uma agradável surpresa. Uma enorme diversidade de fios capazes de satisfazer mesmo os gostos mais requintados, muitas, mas mesmo muitas agulhas e livros…tantos, tantos livros. É impossível sair de mãos vazias!
Depois do trabalho, ou a qualquer hora do dia, pode-se passar na I Knit e desfrutar de uns momentos de paz a fazer malha nos sofás que a loja disponibiliza para isso. E se lhe apetecer pode até pedir uma taça de vinho, enquanto relaxa “mergulhada” nas lãs !
Quando visitar a I Knit não se esqueça de trazer um pin oferecido pela loja. Eu escolhi o “I Knit therefore I am”!
#3 Liberty
Numa rua encostada à famosa Regente Street, mesmo antes de entrar na Carnaby Street, fica uma loja mundialmente reconhecida pelos seus tecidos estampados com flores: a Liberty. É impossível não reparar no prédio, construído em 1920, num estilo que imita os prédios medievais da era Tudor. Apesar de estar classificada como uma department store, as secções são mais pequenas que o costume para este tipo de lojas e tudo é apresentado com enorme requinte, numa agradável mistura entre o contemporâneo e o tradicional.
No terceiro piso “mora” a razão da minha visita, a retrosaria e o sonho de qualquer “amante” do “feito à mão”. Está lá tudo: os lendários tecidos Liberty, as lãs (praticamente toda a gama dos fios Rowan), os acessórios de costura e tricot, livros e muito mais. É uma rajada de criatividade. Sai-se com alma cheia.
Pelo caminho, se for visitar a Loop, escolha um dia de mercado porque vale a pena passar pelas bancas dos pequenos produtores agrícolas e fica a menos de 500 metros da Camdem Passage. No Soho não deixe de visitar a charmosa Cloth House, na Berwick Street, onde vai encontrar muitos e maravilhosos tecidos e botões. Um pouco mais acima na Tottenham Court Road, encontra a Paper Cashe, um must go, para os amantes do paper craft.
I love London. Among the countless things I love about London are the many shops that the city offers to "handmade lovers", each one more compelling than the other. But if I had to pick up three ... I would choose these.
#1 Loop Knitting
This is perhaps one of my favorite shops in London. I visited it for the first time last year and just fell in love. The store is beautiful, full of charm and has a huge variety of yarns, needles and knitting and crochet books. Is in a really cool site: Camden Passage, a neighborhood where vintage and trendy mix in an absolutely inspiring way.
#2 I Knit
At the South side of Waterloo Station there is a street that will make you think that you are at Notting Hill. There you will find I Knit, a pleasant surprise. A huge diversity of yarns, capable of satisfying the most exquisite tastes, many needles and many, many books ...It is impossible to get out without buying something!
After work or at any time of day you can stop at I Knit and enjoy a few moments of peace knitting in the space available at the store.
When visiting I Knit don’t forget to bring a pin offered by the store. I chose the "I Knit therefore I am"!
#3 Liberty
Leaning against the famous Regent Street , before entering Carnaby Street , is a globally recognized store: Liberty . It is impossible not to notice the building, built in 1920, in a style that mimics the medieval buildings of the Tudor age. Despite being classified as a department store sections are smaller than usual for this type of shops and everything is presented with great refinement in a nice mix between contemporary and traditional.
On the third floor “lives" the reason for my visit, the haberdashery and the dream of any “handmade lover". It's all there: the legendary Liberty fabrics, wool (practically the whole range of Rowan yarns), the sewing and knitting accessories, books and more. It is a burst of creativity. You will come out with a full soul.
By the way, if you visit the Loop, choose a market day, because it's worth going through the stalls of small agricultural producers and is less than 500 meters from Camden Passage. In Soho don´t miss the charming Cloth House at Berwick Street where you will find many, many beautiful fabrics and buttons. A little further up to the Tottenham Court Road, you will find Paper Cashe, a must go, for craft paper lovers.
